Birthstones October | OPAL & TURMALIN

In the golden month of October, everything revolves around two particularly fascinating gemstones: the opal and the tourmaline.

Opals are especially popular because of their multifaceted play of colors - colorful flashes of color that change depending on the viewing angle and thus only occur in opals. "It has the delicate fire of carbuncle, the brilliant purple of amethyst, the magnificent sea green of emerald, the golden yellow of topaz, the deep blue of sapphire, so that all the colors shine together in a wonderful mixture," is how the Roman scholar Pliny the Elder described the opal.

For even in ancient times, this gemstone was respected as particularly valuable. Supposedly, its colorful play of colors came about because the gods gave the opal, after they had created all other gemstones, a part of each. So, in good conscience, one could consider the opal as a kind of "best of" all gemstones. Speaking of looking at an opal, just looking at it has a soothing effect on our soul. The stone is said to bring its wearer into harmony with himself and to increase faith in himself. It is also said to help you find true love - which, as we all know, can only be found when you are satisfied with yourself and in harmony with yourself.

Of course, we can't guarantee whether this is true - but we can guarantee that our second monthly stone, tourmaline, is also a gemstone to fall in love with. It may not combine all the colors of the rainbow, but it comes in more than 50 different shades - from bright green to bright pink. Therefore, the name tourmaline is also derived from the Sinhalese word "Turamali", which means "stone in mixed colors". By the way, it stands for the 8th wedding anniversary, so it is also perfect as a gift for the 8th wedding anniversary, after you have successfully survived the "darned 7th year" together. Among the ancient Greeks and Egyptians, it also symbolized self-confidence and perseverance. The black tourmaline, also known as Schörl, is even said to be one of the strongest protective stones of all when it comes to warding off negative energies.

But before I tell you much more, take a look for yourself and discover here all the new designs I created with opals and tourmalines for the October mini collection. Which of the two stones is your favorite? I'm really looking forward to your feedback!
