The beginning of our journey to the first ring collection (part 1)

If you want to contact us on Instagram follows, you may have noticed posts some time ago where I was working on something "secret". Here comes the resolution: I've been asked time and time again if I could imagine designing rings. And at some point I thought, why not? But before you ask when the first JUVELAN rings will be available, I have to stop you. It will certainly take a while until this idea becomes reality. But every great journey begins with a very first step - and we have taken it! And since the way to a goal is often just as beautiful and exciting as the goal itself, I would like to take you along on our journey to the first JUVELAN ring collection from the very beginning. Let's go: As many of you know, I never took a goldsmithing class, but taught myself the techniques I use to design and make our jewelry today. But I have always admired the skill with which professional goldsmiths create the most unusual jewelry. So at the beginning of this year, I decided to learn more about goldsmithing and took a class on rings. I was fascinated - and after every lesson I could imagine more that rings could be a part of JUVELAN someday. During the course I worked on two different ring models. Today I want to show you step by step how the very first ring I ever made in my life came to be. I fell in love with jewelry many years ago because I was fascinated with freshwater pearls. So I thought it fitting to first try my hand at a simple ring with a pearl as the centerpiece. To guide you through the creation process, I have documented as many steps as possible photographically. To make a long story short, ring forging involved a lot of heating, cooling, heating again, working on the metal, heating again. My first task was to forge a round piece only 2mm thick from an 8mm square of silver wire. The next step was to determine the shape and size of the ring, then separate the rings to work out the base for the final design. Now came the most nerve-wracking and important step in goldsmithing - soldering. Since I had never done this before and it requires a lot of dexterity, it took me a few sweaty rounds of practice before it finally worked out perfectly. These little "tin soldiers" were ready to drill a tiny hole for the pin in the ring, to which the freshwater pearl would later be attached. I must admit that my teacher helped me with this step so that the hole was neither too deep nor too shallow. Then it was back to soldering to get the pin in the hole. And now I had to think about what look my first ring should have. It was clear to me: it should shine! But first I had to learn how to use the polishing machine. And then, finally, came the last step: I put the pearl on the pin - and my very first ring was ready! I hope you had as much fun reading and watching the individual steps as I had doing them. And since we can well imagine to include rings in our range at some point, we would of course be very interested if you would be interested and would like to wear rings from JUVELAN. We are looking forward to your opinions and your feedback, just write us an Message! And keep your eyes open - soon part 2 of our journey to the first ring collection will follow, where I will show you how I made my second ring with a beautiful green tourmaline.
