Birthstone July | RUBIN

July, traditionally one of the warmest and sunniest months, is appropriately assigned the fiery red ruby as a birthstone. It is particularly coveted when it is a rich red with a slight blue tinge - also known as "pigeon's blood red" in technical jargon. But "red, like love" actually sounds much nicer, doesn't it? It also fits that the ruby, due to its color, is said to ignite love and passion and even to preserve them in the long term. Like an eternally burning fire that never goes out. Quite romantic, isn't it?

But before it gets too corny, I have a few hard facts about the ruby for you: Together with the emerald, the sapphire and the diamond, it is one of the most valuable gemstones in the world - strictly speaking, it is even the "king" among them, because a ruby is more expensive than a sapphire or emerald of the same size and purity.

The largest cut ruby in the world can be admired in the British Museum of Natural History in London: the so-called Edward Ruby weighs 167 carats, or 33.4 grams. But no matter how big or small it is: the ruby is considered a power stone that gives you energy, strength and new courage, strengthens your self-confidence and allegedly even protects you from evil. Ideal properties to make yourself or a loved one with it a pleasure, right?

Here you can discover all designs of our current monthly collection with rubies. And of course I'm curious - which piece of jewelry is your favorite? Next month we will focus on two gemstones: the green peridot and the spinel, which comes in different colors. And if you haven't already done so, sign up here for our JUVELAN newsletter to never miss any news and promotions again. We look forward to hearing from you!
