Birthstones June | PEARL & MOONSTONE
This month the focus is on two gemstones: the pearl and the moonstone! Those who know me know that I love pearls and this particular gemstone inspired me to design my first pieces of jewelry many years ago. Since then, the pearl has been a seemingly endless source of inspiration for me and I've had oodles of new ideas for the current mini collection. But since Fredrik and I flew away for our honeymoon, unfortunately not all new designs were finished in time for the beginning of the month due to time constraints. So here you can see a part of it for now. The other new designs, inspired by the pearly white sandy beaches of the Maldives, will follow in the course of the month. So check back from time to time!
What fascinates me most about pearls is their uniqueness. Just as with us humans, no two are alike, each is unique and all have tiny imperfections and deviations from the norm. And that is exactly what makes pearls like people so exciting in my eyes: their individuality. Symbolically, they are said to strengthen friendships, as well as alleviate grief, stress and discontent. And not all pearls are creamy white. Their color palette ranges from apricot and pink to purple, brown and black! There is something for every taste.
The second star of the month of June is the moonstone, which owes its name to the pearly shimmering surface, which sparkles in the most diverse facets depending on the incidence of light and is reminiscent of moonlight. However, it does not originate from outer space at all, but is found in many countries. The place of discovery is also decisive for the color: blue moonstones are considered very rare and usually come from Madagascar, while Indian moonstones sparkle orange. But no matter what color it is: Moonstone is considered one of the most effective stones for giving perseverance and getting through hard times. And it also makes a great gift for lovers, as it is said to awaken and even intensify passionate and loving feelings.
